A Few Things
Happy Thursday, everyone.
I think fiction and poetry groups are meeting tonight or this weekend, make sure you make the effort to go to the meetings. From what I hear they are going to be pretty fun!
POSTERS: Please start making/posting posters around campus. This is a necessity. We have very few submissions, we NEED MORE. Don't you want a good magazine? C'mon artsy people.
ART EDITOR: We got one. Details to follow.
Ugh, that's it. Studying for Plant Natural History. Hopefully this is the last time I have to pay this much attention to the internal structure of a "true yam" if ya know what I mean (this is not an innuendo).
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.

Fall Announcements
Happy cooler weather to everyone, especially writers. This time of year should be motivating and invigorating—unlike the sweltering, sweaty, slow summer—a great time for writers. Tonight, I hope you all dust your brain off, along with your not-worn-since-last-year fall sweater. Make yourself some coffee, maybe a kale and quinoa salad, sit outside on your porch (or someone else's porch) and let your pen go go go.
To Revision's Staff:
Your poetry editor Lexi Wangler and Fiction editor Stewart Sinclair should be keeping you informed of when and where your first meeting will commence. Remember: it is important to come to meetings as a reader, as this is the bulk of what we do during the fall. We have started to get submissions, but not enough to call for a real review session yet. I'll let you know when that happens. For now, get the word out so we can start choosing work for the magazine! The more submissions, the better the quality of magazine.
If you haven't made a poster yet, get on it! It's fun to do and would be nice to have a pastiche of creative posters around campus. Just remember to get them OK'd (signed?) by the dean.
If you are new to the team and still haven't met with me, don't worry. You can email me if you have extensive questions, but the most important thing to do is contact your group editors (Lexi or Stewart). If you are interested in working on the art staff be patient; we are still in search of an editor to lead the team. Remember, this year the art editor must be an art major. Again, tell your friends.
Lexi Wangler: aewangle@loyno.edu (poetry, music, cross-genre/hybrid)
Stewart Sinclair: slsincla@loyno.edu: (fiction, creative non-fiction, scripts/screenplays)
Due to conflicting meeting times you must choose either poetry or fiction groups. Email the editors today to get involved.
Best wishes y'all.
Ryan M
PS The Reservoir Cafe is where it's at. Come over to the LGD for great coffee and friendly faces. Not to mention great coffee and friendly faces. Cheers.

Comments on Last Night's Meeting, etc
Last night's meeting went very well, thanks to everyone who showed up! I hope that I was able to answer all of your questions and, if you are a reader, I hope you are excited to start working on the staff.
One thing I forgot to bring was an example of a square, perfect-bound lit mag. I want everyone to have at least an idea of what the magazine's new format would look like, so here's a picture of a stack of literary magazines that have a similar shape/size.
Reasons I want to adjust the format:
1. Square books open wider, making reading more enjoyable, easier
2. We can do some different things with graphic design, have a little bit more liberty than in a rectangular, narrower magazine.
3. Aesthetics. Simple: it looks nice.
Feedback is welcome!
NOTE: SUBMISSIONS OFFICIALLY OPEN FOR REVISIONS
VIA REVISIONSLOYOLA@GMAIL.COM.
TELL YOUR FRIENDS WHO WRITE AND MAKE ART!
START SUBMITTING YOUR WORK!
(If the art is too big to scan, a high resolution photograph is perfectly acceptable.)
Start telling folks all around campus. Let's get some submissions.
Cheers to Lexi for her comment last night: "Most of our meetings will be in bars." Which undoubtedly recruited at least three more people to the often under-populated poetry staff.
Also thanks to Adam Gnuse for getting the word out about 1718 Reading Series. I hope that some of the Revisions Staff will consider joining the organization as well as reading work.
Well, we're off to a start.

Reader's Meeting is TODAY!
Hey everyone! Welcome to the Revisions Literary Magazine of Loyola blog.
Today is Revisions' first reader's meeting of the semester! It takes place outside Monroe Library at 7:00pm. I have reserved the Library Living room for us at 7:30, so after everyone arrives we will move into that room to take care of some business. Things that will be covered include:
1. Orientation with the editors.
Fiction editor: the dynamic juggler, Stewart Sinclair.
Poetry editor: the quick witted and silver tongued Lexi Wangler.
(PS. We are still looking for an ART EDITOR who is an ART MAJOR: tell your friends!)
2. Orientation for the readers.
It's important that we all get to know one another, and understand our purpose, because our relationship will not be merely reading and voting on what goes in the magazine. Revisions staff should work as a team, with all players contributing equally fantastic characteristics to the magazine.
3. Picking of groups.
Readers will choose either poetry, fiction, or art groups. You will set tentative meeting dates and locations for the reading of submissions, and share contact information.
4. Setting of deadlines, explanation of policies & goals.
I hope to see all of you there, but if you can't make it, email remitche@loyno.edu to set up another meeting time. It's that easy!
CHEERS,
Ryan Mitchell, editor-in-chief.
